Elder Services

Senior Care, Types of Elder CareTypes of Senior Services We Offer

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care

Seniors with Alzheimer’s or other dementia-related diseases have very special care giving needs. Patients often experience changes in personality and behavior. Some of the most common     behaviors include agitation or anxiety, incontinence, repetitive speech or actions, paranoia,     sleep difficulties, and wandering. For more information, click on Dementia and Alzheimer’s.

At Innovative Nurses & Sitters, we offer caregivers that have been trained in dementia care and management.  In fact, our agency training addresses several disease management specialties and conditions that have accompanying dementia such as Alzheimer’s, MS, Parkinson’s AIDS, Huntington’s disease, and Sun-downing Syndrome.

Advocacy

Advocacy is defined as “pleading for, supporting and recommending an active response.” At Innovative Nurses & Sitters, we are always advocating for you and in your interest. This means we are working to be sure your loved one is getting appropriate, timely attention and care. For example, we advocate in the doctor’s office when we’re taking notes for the senior who has trouble with instructions, or during a hospital stay when your elderly loved one is anxious or in pain and the staff is busy with another patient, or at the nursing home if your senior is not getting the timely attention they’d like or need. Most seniors truly benefit from a companion-advocate in and across health care settings.

The caregivers at Innovative Nurses & Sitters are always advocating for you and your loved one. We go where you need us: home, hospital, short or long term care communities, nursing homes and rehabilitation centers.

In Home Caregivers

In-Home Care

In home care refers to non-medical services provided by a caregiver in the home or residence of an elder or disabled individual. Generally, in home health care provides support for senior adults and individuals to live independent of a facility.  For more information and a complete listing of our in-home care services, click on In-Home Care.

At Innovative Nurses & Sitters, the largest part of our case load consists of clients that are living in the home. We offer caregivers that have been trained in all aspects of home care.

The care giver’s duties may be fairly light, such as stopping by someone’s house every few days to tidy up or prepare a meal, or the duties may be more involved, such as living with someone to provide constant assistance with a variety of tasks. Whatever the task, we have 16 years experience behind it so you know you’re senior is getting top notch, professional care.

In-Patient Care:

Much of our caseload here at Innovative Nurses & Sitters is caring for elders in hospitals, nursing homes, short and long term care facilities, rehabilitation centers and assisted living communities.

In many instances, hospital and nursing home staff are limited and time can pass between when your senior rings for assistance and when it arrives.  When our caregivers are sent to assist and advocate for your elder, they can tend to their needs as they arise, be the extra eyes and ears of a busy in-house staff, provide companionship and ease the anxiety of the care recipient as well as the family.

We go where you need us: home, hospital, short or long term care communities, nursing homes and rehabilitation centers.

Live-in Care

Live-in care refers to services provided by a caregiver who resides with the person they care for and is available to assist them during any time of the day or night. Live-in caregivers are usually given a room and expected to sleep, but are always “on call” if the care recipient needs help during the night.

When a senior needs care around-the-clock care, such as an individual with dementia, an agitated individual or one who cannot make his needs known, senior care is provided in two twelve-hour shifts with two caregivers. Each caregiver is expected to be fully awake during her shift.

At Innovative Nurses & Sitters, we offer caregivers that have been trained in all aspects of live-in care.

Respite Care

Respite care, simply put, is a break for the family caregiver or care provider. Respite care is     planned, short-term and time-limited breaks for families and other unpaid care givers in order to support and maintain the primary care giving relationship. For more information, click on     Respite Care.

At Innovative Nurses & Sitters, we offer caregivers that have been trained in respite care.    And, everyone on our administrative team has been a primary caregiver for a family member, so we know what you issues you face, want and need.

Hospice Support Care

Hospice care is a philosophy of care that focuses on patient comfort and quality of life rather than curing the patient’s disease. Its goal is to enable patients to be pain-free so that their last days may be spent with dignity and surrounded by the people they love. For more information, click Hospice Support Care.

Hospice care does not provide 24 hour around the clock nursing care, so many patients are either cared for by family members, hired caregivers, or nursing home staff. And, in the early weeks of care, it’s usually not necessary for someone to be with the patient all the time.    However, since one of the most common fears of patients is the fear of dying alone, Hospice generally recommends someone be there continuously. While family and friends do deliver most of the care, salaried care givers can assist with errands and to provide a break and time away for primary caregivers.

With over 16 years of experience, Innovative Nurses & Sitters have provided Hospice support services in all settings and stages of illness. We honor the privilege of accompanying our friends and clients on their final journey.
